Here you will find a variety of information on everything from raising chickens, to caring for baby chicks, building coops, health issues and more. Below you will find a little bit of our history, we are so glad you stopped by!
A Little About Our Farm
Our family started raising chickens years ago by purchasing our very first 6 chicks from a feed store. Most of the chicks grew up to be roosters, so we purchased a few hens from a local farm. Before we knew it, we had 12 hens and 1 rooster. I was instantly in love with the variety of breeds, colors and patterns available. Luckily, we had built our chicken coop bigger than what we needed.
Two years ago we purchased a new house with a bigger property and started a small farm & garden selling produce, eggs, chicks, and more locally. Some of our breeding stock include Lavender Ameraucanas (they lay blue eggs!), Cochins, Silkies, Crested Cream Legbar, Black Cooper Marans and a few others.
Over the years we have added 3 more chicken coops, 2 grow out pens and 3 brooders. Our flocks are separated by breed and by March of every year we have incubators going. We set eggs to hatch about twice a month, in addition to selling fertile eggs for hatching. Also on our “Little Farm In Town” are turkeys, ducks and quail!
In addition, I love to cook (and eat!) and as part of my job, write and test original recipes for food bloggers all over the internet. Be sure to stop by our recipe category to see what’s cooking!
We love sharing information and teaching others what we have learned over the years. Thank you for being here!
